So if contact lens solution is supposed to dissolve proteins, and sweat stains on shirt collars are protein based, will contact lens solution work to remove those stains?
Trying it out now with Renu. I also have Clear Care which is peroxide-based, but I think peroxide will bleach by itself, so I just wanted to try something that won’t bleach. And no, this is not my thesis project =b
Update: Somewhat inconclusive, I think it made it lighter, but it’s hard to tell =b I’ll try again next time ;p

In contrast to Pilau, I haven’t been able to spend a lot of time in the kitchen this year. The only “recipe” that I’m working on involves figuring out the correct curing temperature and time for silicone rubber. Previously I had slanted most of my cooking towards maximizing some kind of time or effort derivative of taste (marginal taste?), but this past year has been all about minimizing time. I noticed the trend about a year ago when I was buying more frozen stuff, but didn’t realize how bad it had gotten until recently.
This morning I was up early finishing some homework and needed breakfast. I was out of pop tarts and other instant food, and walking down the street to a coffee shop for a muffin would have taken 15 min (plus it was raining). I also had some left over rice in the fridge plus eggs and Portuguese sausage, but I didn’t really want to have to fry stuff and wash the pan. A while ago Sooj wrote about a fictional recipe for “fried rice” in the microwave. While I don’t think I’d ever actually cook meat in the microwave, the Portuguese sausage was pre-cooked, so I figured what the heck… I tossed the rice in a bowl, sliced the sausage and put it on top, cracked two eggs over all of it, microwaved it for 5 min, added ketchup, and mixed it up. The eggs were kind of overdone and the sausage wasn’t crispy, but it was fast =b
I’m tired of school =p

I had an eye appointment today, and after taking the eye test, the doctor excitedly tells me, “This line is 20/20, which is normal vision, but you were able to read the 20/15 line perfectly, and you even got 5/6 right on the 20/10 line. That’s pretty amazing!”
I wait a moment to see if he’s joking before I remind him that I’m wearing glasses =p
“Oh…” he says, “Well, at least with your glasses on, you’re like Superman!”
Hm… I guess I just need my cape, bullet-proof vest, and jet pack, and I’m good to go =b Although now that I think about it, I’d be more like Batman in that sense, no actual powers, but lots of performance enhancing technology. I wonder if Batman gets an asterisk by his name in the superhero hall of fame because of that.
Okay, back to the thesis ;p

I still get a couple hits every month from people searching for “jean shorts out of style” or something similar, so I thought I’d mention this. On the way to Zion, we filled up gas at a truck stop somewhere in Eastern California around the Nevada border. When I went in to buy a soda, I saw a rack where they were selling jean shorts for like $12 a pair! Not only that, but more than a few of the people in there were wearing them =b
I was going to take a picture, but nobody had brought in their camera. Anyway, based on this new evidence, I think I can safely conclude that they are no longer fashionable =b Who knew??
